Where Is the best place to learn how to Program Video Games?
- Chosen by Voters You actually do not need to go to any special school to become a game programmer. You can go to any good 4 year college and get a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. If at all possible, go to college near a city with a lot of game studios, like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, etc. Most game companies will not pay for relocation for an entry level job, and some won't even interview you if you don't live in the area, so it'll be a lot easier to find a job after college if you already live near several studios. There's a map here: http://gamedevmap.com/ that lists every game studio by city. Try to select a college in a city with at least 10 game companies.You can also start learning C++ or another programming language now, if you want, either on your own (there are many books and online tutorials for learning to program) or at your high school, if they offer programming classes. Why are video games considered nerdy?
The sigma stems form the old video games. Back when video games were mostly played by over or under weight guys who couldn't get laid and programmers. And then came the era of gamers who spent ( and still spend) days and weeks without leaving the house only associating with online entities. Lots of video games took hand eye coordination and puzzle solving skills that jock weren't likely to have. And there aren't alot of girl gamers so it was generally seen as a all loser sausage fest. Why dont guys believe a girl can be good at video games?
Because many boys still think that girl are avoiding all Technology including computers and games. Because they still think that all girls do on a computers is chat or write e-mails or play solitaire. Because they are idiots. And because there are still woman out there that feed the cliche. This is coming from a female that works in the technical department of a computer firm. I have male customers every once in a while that have problems with me being female. And I have female customers that complain when I ask them as much as to unplug a power cable that they rather wait for their husband.They both feed the cliche.As for boys that don't believe you…tell them once.Either they accept it then or they can not be helped.
